Thompson Terminal Point
The Thompson Technique uses drops adapted to the chiropractic table to make adjustments. The stretcher has several drops, which are adjusted according to the patient's weight. At the time of the maneuver, the area that will be worked on is armed and, with the professional's gravity and pressure, it disarms, moving the affected joint. Other types of drops, known as portable drops, are also used for adjustments to more specific areas such as ankles and wrists.
This technique can be applied to almost all types of patients, and is widely used in the elderly, as the adjustment is lighter. The adjustments most applied in this technique are spinal adjustments, such as cervical, pelvis and lumbar.
We built our knowledge based on the experience of several international experts, for the Thompson Brasil Institute.

Before using any technique, a good assessment is carried out to determine which techniques would be most appropriate for the condition. Postural analysis, range of motion, orthopedic testing, motion palpation, muscle palpation, and perhaps x-rays are included in the list of possible assessment techniques.

The joint adjustment process involves elevating a segment of the drop that is under the joint to be adjusted. The high tension segment is controlled so the appropriate force can be applied across the joint, with the pressure dropping with the drop. This helps facilitate movement and physiological function of the joint, while decreasing pain and inflammation and promoting proper neural function.
The technique also has special characteristics for treatment:
-
Cervical Syndrome
-
Adjustments for facet syndrome
-
Ear-jaw articulation
-
Sacroiliac Injuries
-
Low back pain and lumbar adjustments with drop
-
Drop adjustments at ends
-
Shoulder and injury to the supraspinatus•Knees and Ankles
Thompson and his Philosophy
The force that made the body heals the body. In the philosophical field, chiropractic applies to removing interferences that hinder the organism's action through the nervous system in executing its healing programming.
Chiropractic SubluxationThese interferences promote dysfunctions that affect joint mobility and promote localized muscle imbalances. In some cases, these dysfunctions form patterns that we call syndromes and, sometimes, these syndromes can generate a certain chronicity.
The treatment protocol initially appears to be a conservative "direct vision", but in fact it can be used in association with other techniques and procedures, favoring a therapeutic link with other treatment strategies. After executing the protocol, the clinician will also be able to understand the patient's specific clinical demands.
